The challenge

Every pipe crossing a reactor containment is a point where the confinement function can fail. For seven penetrations, it had to be shown that the embedded frame and its plates keep structural integrity and leak-tightness under every load combination.

Scope

  • Modelling of the seven penetrations: embedded frame, perforated plates and retained piping
  • Definition of load cases and combinations, including seismic
  • Finite element stress and deformation analysis
  • Verification of plate-to-frame welds
  • Verification of the confinement function: structural integrity and leak-tightness
  • Calculation report with Prepared / Reviewed / Approved chain

How we worked

One model per penetration, one common criterion. All seven calculations follow the project's methods and criteria document, so review is comparable.

Documentary traceability. Each report with dated revision control, distribution list and document status.

Result

Confinement demonstrated

All seven penetrations verified for structural integrity and leak-tightness, with a calculation report fit for the project file.
